Body Refinements

To reinforce the 2016 Toyota Tacoma’s body and make it stronger than ever, engineers added more steel. This ultra-high-strength and high-strength content makes the frame, roof, and sides much more durable. Despite all this steel, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is no heavier than its predecessor. Handling is nimble and more refined. Drivers can still choose between five trims, multiple bed/cab configurations, and two drivetrains. A stronger transfer case is now standard on the 4×4 models.

New Engine

The 2016 Tacoma comes with two engine choices. The newest is the most powerful ever. It increases horsepower by more than 40. The 3.5-liter V-6 cranks out 278 horsepower for ample push-and-pull. Toyota engineers have combined port and direct injection to allow the truck to choose the best tool for the speed. Switching between Otto and Atkinson cycles means better fuel economy overall and better performance on demand. Another way that fuel economy has been enhanced is through the use of a revised automatic transmission. This uses a low-gear crawl ratio, and it also lowers the rpm during highway cruising.
